Bus is a right winner for council cash

Bus is a right winner for council cash THE borough of Ealing has scooped a cash prize in this year’s New Year’s Honours parade. The £ 1,000 prize was awarded to Ealing Council for their entry in the let’s help London Challenge. The council secured joint fourth place in the competition along with the London borough of Brent, Sutton, Merton, lambent and Southwark.  Ealing Mayor Cllr Gurcharan Singh received the cheque from The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Greater London. Cllr Singh said: ”I am delighted that we won. This was the first time we have entered in years and hopefully next year we will come first. “The money will be distributed through the mayor’s charity to needy causes across the borough.” Ealing entered a brightly-coloured bus which was kindly donated for the day by a local resident. Some 22 London boroughs competed for a prize fund of £ 18,000 to be donated to mayoral charities across the capital. Each participating borough will also receive a percentage of a major street collection carried out during the event.
