Honours for parade float team

PROUD children and adults beamed with delight on Saturday when they were given gold medals for coming fourth in the best float competition at London’s New Year’s Day parade.Dalawar Chaudhry, owner of Chaudhry TKC, laid on a dinner at his restaurant in the Broadway, southall, to celebrate the awards which were handed to 31 delighted recipients by Ealing mayor, Councillor Gurcharan singh, and pared director Robert Bone.It was also decided to give the £ 1000 price for fourth place to a charity which supports earthquake victims in Iraq. The group decorated and rode the restaurant’s flagship bus on behalf of the borough of Ealing in the January 1 parade. The vehicle, decorated in mosaics, arches and light, has also made appearances in a walkers’ crisps advert and at Bob Geldof’s 50th party.Mr Chaudhry said: “the children were thrilled with the medals. They really deserve them because they sat on top of the bus waving and holding balloons with Ealing council’s name on them for the whole of the parade, even when it was raining.”
